The class consists of singing songs, playing games, and having fun learning about Jesus and his Word. Students will complete projects and coloring sheets related to each weeks lesson.

This quarter we are studying Kings of the Old Testament.

Week 13: (5/24/09) Daniel and the Lion's Den

Week 12: (5/17/09) Daniel and the Writing on the Wall - Students will learn about King Belshazzar and the Writing on the Wall (Daniel 5)

Week 11: (5/10/09) Daniel and the Fiery Furnace (Lesson 2) - Students will continue to learn about King Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel. (Daniel 3)

Week 10: (5/3/09) Nebuchadnezzar (Lesson 1) - Students will be introduced to King Nebuchadnezzar and learn about Daniel. (Daniel 1-3)

Week 9: (4/26/09) Queen Esther (Lesson 2) - Students will learn about Esther, Mordecai, and Haman. (Esther 3-10)

Week 8: (4/19/09) Queen Esther - Students will learn about how Esther became queen. (Esther 1&2)

Week 7: (4/12/09) King Jehoshaphat - Students will learn about how King Jehoshaphat prayed to God to spare his people from the invading armies. (II Chronicles 20)

Week 6: (4/5/09) Hezekiah's son King Manasseh - Students will learn about how King Manasseh did not follow God's commands like his father and was captured by his enemies.  They will learn how he repented and turned back to God in captivity.  (II Kings 21 & II Chronicles 33)

Week 5: (3/29/09) The Book of Law - Students will learn about King Josiah and The Book of Law (II Kings 22)

Week 4: (3/22/09) King Hezekiah (part 2) - Students will learn about how King Hezekiah prayed to God when sick.  We will discuss the power of prayer and other aspects of King Hezekiah's life.  In addition, we will discuss the sun moving backwards in the sky and illustrate this with the construction of a sundial. (II Kings 20:9-10)

Week 3: (3/15/09) King Hezekiah - Students will learn about how King Sennacherib wanted to take over King Hezekiah and his people.  They will learn how God's angel destroyed the army of Sennecherib. (II Kings 18:13-19:37, II Chronicles 32:1-21, Isaiah 36-37)

Memory Verse for 3/22/09 - "Ask, and it shall be given to you ..." Matthew 7:7

 

Week 2: (3/8/09) Joash, The Boy King - Students will learn about Joash, the boy who became king at age 7. (II Kings 11-12).  How he was saved from death as an infant, crowned king at age seven, restored the temple while king, and eventually fell away from God after the death of his uncle the priest.

Memory Verse for 3/15/09 - "...with us is the Lord our God to help us..." II Chronicles 32:8

Week 1: (3/1/09) Jeroboam and Rehoboam (and the prophet Ahijah) - Students will learn about how the prophet Ahijah tore his coat into 12 pieces foretelling the division of the Promised Land, Rehoboam's decision to follow the advice of his young advisors instead of his elders, and Jeroboam's decision to build 2 golden calves instead of worshiping God.
